The Tiverton community is mourning the tragic loss of Matthew J. Poirier, 40, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday, April 4, 2026.

Officers responding to the scene found a red Toyota RAV4 that had left the roadway and struck a tree, sustaining severe damage.
Poirier, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found unresponsive at the scene and was extricated by Tiverton Rescue personnel. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
